Tires are one of the most abundant waste products on Earth yet it's the most recyclable. I mean 100% of it can be turned into a number of useful products but the most green thing to do is repurpose it just as is. The Re-Tyre concept by Carl Menary cleans and remolds tires past their prime into unique and surprisingly comfortable seating.

I'm frightened and in raptured with these bio-mechanical robots designed artist Choe U Ram (for real that's his name). They glow, move eerily life-like, and they even respond to each other - moving appenditures and all! Gizmodo has tons more pics and a video to make you run to your room and cry.
Actually after some further thought and a couple of NyQuil to make me feel nifty, I would like to have my room covered in these robots, but they have to respond to my every whim. Enter my domain at your own risk.
Japan's AU KDDI just launched their "art meets innovation show" in Harajuku called the Mobile in Forest Exhibition. Various artists have showcased their innovative representations of the cell phone.
Housed in the now famous futurist gallery space designed by Tadao Ando (formerly occupied by HHStyle), the show features a polyurethane rubber “socket-deer” and a “HOLDING BEAR CHARGER” allowing you to recharge your phone in style. While not over-the-top in terms of sci-fi themes, the merging of nature and technology via art points towards an inevitable future when all this tech blends seamlessly into the background and, as Arthur C. Clarke once said, begins to appear as magic.

These musical hand puppets by Matthew Irvine Brown look irresistibly fun to play with. Sensors in the puppets mouth measure how wide it's open and that data is converted to a musical scale.
These puppets can be tuned to sing in any scale or mode. At the minute their voices come from a small Max/MSP patch and some very basic electronics, but he can also be rigged up to be a MIDI controller. They can help illustrate relatively complex musical theory - such as the differences between blues, chromatic and pentatonic scales - through play and storytelling

I've been stalking following New York Rangers Sean Avery ever since his Vogue internship announcement. Already the man dispels many stereotypes about athletes; being a self admitted fashionista, there's no denying this could be the best thing that's ever happened to American hockey. On top of that, the man writes and writes well. He's guest editor for men's Vogue this month. Read on as he brings insight into the world of hockey, fashion, and journals his first few weeks working there. The man makes millions, yet he's accepted a minimum wage job just to do what he loves second best; fashion. You go boy!. Call me.

Japan's OPENER's magazine profiles Lanvin's golden boy Lucas Ossendrijver. This man has managed to revive menswear for a house long breathed of modern clothing. Check out the must see photo essay. I'm envious!
I swear I dreamt of this a long time ago. You see, in my dream I worked in a paper mill to make ends meat. My long work days were met with an aching back and the realization I'd have to do it all over again. Only my daydreams saved me from insanity but the constant lapse in concentration gets me into an accident. I get caught in one of the mill presses. As I lay there slowly drifting into unconsciousness, I see myself folding a giant origami horse, hop on its back and ride away to peace.
Enjoy this video. It's a solar powered kinetic paper horse.
I love this packaging for Fat Pig chocolates. They don't play around. Most chocolates hide behind the promise of elegance and class but you know - all you're eating is a mixture of cocoa, milk, and tons of sugar. Essentially you're eating fat fat fat. I like foods that tell it like it is. No pussy footing here.
This isn't new but somehow I only discovered it. This is what happens when you're laid out in bed sick. You get hypnotized by a singing frog. I'm serious ya'll. This isn't the codeine talking. Keromin is a theremin stuffed inside a plush frog. His arms and mouth manipulate the amplitude and pitch ofsound able to hit every note on a scale.
For educational purposes, "kero" means frog in Japanese. "Min" is from theremin. Simple enough. Keromin is currently sold in Japan only. Any of my Japanese readers willing to send me one? I am sick remember? "cough cough."
After nearly a week coping with the flu, I'm at the tail end of it and to celebrate I made myself Vietnamese crepes. The flavors of colonial Vietnam are fantastic.

Nearly a month after China's devastating earthquake, the Wolong Nature Reserve held a funeral Tuesday for a panda that was crushed in the temblor.
