We have just completed a couple of internal projects recently. One being the Board Room. Here are a couple of shots before and after. Its basically an enlarged cork board peppered with oversize pieces of furniture. The Note Table is there accompanied with over size computer buttons and other accessories.
A little internal project David and I did a couple of weekends ago. One of the creative teams asked the company to help out and creat a piece of art from the Observer's Book of Art. We made the book into a.... A painters pallette and a... A minature sculpture. Unfortunately our pieces of art were'nt chosen for the print ad but it was still fun to do.
I've been busy working on various projects at Wieden and Kennedy. One project that we have been working on is the Nokia Green Room title sequence. We finished it a few weeks ago and we are really happy with the result. We had roughly 6 weeks to find the director, animator and illustrator for the idea and make it happen. Luckily our chosen illustrator, Will Sweeney, was available. We then chose Steve Scott and Dan O'Rourke from Not To Scale to direct and animate the piece. David and I were busy signing off characters components and sharing and agreeing on ideas for the animation with Steve and Dan as well as overseeing the logo which was designed by Johnny Lighthands. The idea behind the sequence was to fill the small box on screen full of music genre non specific musicians, show them relaxing and drinking then suddenly switch to an on stage performance which is really the essence of the programme. There is so much going on that you want to see it over and over again to spot new things. Its only 20 seconds long so don't blink you might miss something. Click play to see more. Thanks to everyone who helped out on this.
I was just having look through the Howies blog for some inspiration and came across a post that Scania had posted regarding an article in the urban sports and fashion magazine Cooler. Click here to see more about the article. There is also a small film of the tour attached to the link.
We recently had some photos of the Honda glass taken by Russell Duncan. He did a really clever shot of it completed at the top and all jumbled up in the reflection. Unfortunately these glasses have been pulled but its fantastic they have been produced.
David and I are have been working with the new WK Side team on their idea for the window display at Wieden and Kennedy. Its called the Rat Race. The window display consists of three dimensional tubes which represent a localised area of the tube map. Inside the tubes are eight rats who are running around the tubes. This idea took a while to come off the ground but we're really happy with the result. And by the look of things the rats are enjoying it as well. Here are some snaps of the installation. This is Sir Alan checking out his new pad. Here's one of the rats in their little home. We have one big cage attached to the window where they play. If you want to find out what they have been up to visit them on www.ratbook.co.uk.
I thought I'd post our first TV ad for the Guardian, which was on about three weeks ago. I've been a bit busy hence the lack of posts recently. The TV spot was made with a company called Tandem with an animator called Tobias. Tobias worked on the Tim Burton animated film the Corpse's Bride. The ad was based on the fact that there are four british hopefuls in the tournament this year. All four helmets sing the national anthem through car revs, which is normally played on the podiums. A little nod to our hopes that one of the four brits will win the trophy. No guesses who. Here is the very first scamp we drew for the ad and the final outcome below.
I thought I would share mine and David's first piece of bought work at Wieden and Kennedy. The HONDA puzzle glass for the dealerships. The glass was designed to sit with the new Honda Problem Playground campaign. We also wanted to come up with something that would prevent people from using plastic cups at the dealerships which was interactive and engaging.
So as you can see at one angle the letters look jumbled but.... when you line them up at the right angle HONDA is revealed. Click here to see more.
David from howies phoned me last week to see how I was and ask whether I wanted to work on another stunt for them this summer. I of course said yes, so I was having a look at what I proposed last year. Click here to see more.
Just spotted on the Howies website that David and Claire have produced 50 Blackboard Van tour books for the press. Hopefully I'll be able to get my hands on one.
Hello and Happy New Year to everyone. Apoligies for the lack of posts recently. No real excuses apart from the new job is going well and time is limited. I got a really nice email from Costas from Yatzer, which is one of my favourite design blogs. He was interested in the Jigsaw Storage and wanted to also feature The Chair That Grows. So here is the article. To see more click here To see how the Jigsaw Storage in action click on the video below.
For this years Christmas card at W+K they have decided to go down the environmental route and have produced a website where everyone is welcome to grow their own tree and decorate it as they want. You have to water it every day (bit like a tamagotchi) and all the trees live in Wieden's Wood. Here's what it looks like. And here's what my tree look like We've also designed the window in line with the website to promote it using recycled internal waste. One side is painted like to look like the site the other is honest showing what the set is made from. To create your own Christmas tree click here
We have started to look into patnering up with a designer called Eddi who owns his own comapny manufacturing Vinyl toys in Shanghai. He's done some work with the Shanghai office and David and I were introduced to him a month ago. We are about to start designing some characters with him which is really exciting. Here is an example of his work. Click here to seemore.
Today was the Campaign Dinner Party at Wieden and Kennedy. David and I were asked to think about how we could exhibit the Wieden and Kennedy year book of 2007. We came up with a few ideas for the party but really pushed one which consisted of 300 helium baloons, where each one held one page of the book. The result was a sea of floating pages above the dining room table for people to look at. Here are some snap shots of what it looked like.
David and I started our new venture at Wieden and Kennedy to bring our 3D backgound to the table. We've had our first week and have met some really inspiring people. We got our first three briefs today. Lets see how we can twist them. Does it have to be a billboard? Really looking forward to seeing what we can achieve.
I was having a look at the Howies blog this evening and just downloaded their new catalogue. Some really nice stuff for winter and plenty of colourful layers to keep warm. The blackboard van was featured and David and Claire Hieatt have kindly credited me. Thanks guys. Click here to download your own copy. If you want a hard copy fill & send the form.
I went to the Design Museum today and checked out the the Zaha Hadid and the Mathew Williamson exhibition at the Design Museum. Here are some snapshots of both exhibitions.
