We’re calling all local San Franciscans, Los Angelinos, and everyone else who feel so inclined, to join us on Saturday, October 20th, to turn off all non-essential lights from 8-9pm, Pacific Time.
So what exactly does one hour of lights out in the big west coast city do? new" href="http://www.lightsoutsf.org/index.html">Lights Out San Francisco estimates that as much as 15 percent of the energy consumed on an average Saturday night will be saved by turning out lights for merely an hour.
Just because your lamp requires lightbulbs doesn’t mean a candle won’t do the job just as well! Our last installment of the Die Electric collection is the cheeky and low-tech Candull candle-light, which replaces the common energy-sapping bulb with a low-tech yet equally functional candle.
